JOE-Tagung 2025 in Dresden

From 3rd to 5th of July we participated in the organization of the international conference – our PhD student Olha Norba was a member of the organizing team of JOE-Tagung 2025 in Dresden, or “32. Conference of Young Professionals on Eastern Europe”, organized annually by the German Society for East European Studies (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Osteuropakunde). The three-day event welcomed more than 40 young scholars and scientists from institutes across Europe to TU Dresden to present their current research in 13 panels. Each presentation was followed by an expert commentary from an established scholar – our colleague Eva Palkovičová also prepared her expert opinion for the panel “Gender and Participation: Cultures in Transition”. The conference organizing team also offered a rich framework program for young scholars with a focus on Eastern Europe – in addition to the panel discussion on “Populism and Propaganda. Communication Manipulation in Eastern Europe”, moderated by our PhD student Olha Norba and Dr. Timm Schönfelder from Leibniz-Institut für Geschichte und Kultur des östlichen Europa (GWZO), there was also a presentation of the activities of the partner institutions “Forum Mittel- und Osteuropa: Institutionen stellen sich vor”, in which our institute was represented by the latest German-language as well as English-language publications.
